The available sample volume for large-molecule bioanalytical sample testing support sometimes can be limited for a variety of reasons.
In preclinical work, animal models such as mouse and rat only allow for relatively small blood volumes to be collected from a single animal. These volumes are even more reduced when investigating tail vein samples.
Rare matrices, for instance cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), synovial fluid or ocular biofluids such as aqueous or vitreous humor, are very limited in volume size – even in the cases of larger animal models or human donors in clinical trials.
Therefore, microsampling offers a great advantage in preclinical and clinical trials.

Virtually any matrix can be explored utilizing the Imperacer® platform’s outstanding ability to maintain extreme sensitivity despite high sample dilution.
Depending on sensitivity requirements, typically 10 analytes (e.g., drug (PK) plus 9 biomarkers) can be tested from a 25 µl sample. Taking backup volume into account, 50 µl of neat sample volume is sufficient for analyzing 10 analytes in parallelwith single digit pg/ml sensitivities each.
